Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much does it cost to attend the Global Health Challenge @ Harvard College?
Nothing! The Challenge (including lunch and a t-shirt) is free of charge for all participants.
2. Will meals be provided?
Lunch (usually pizza) will be provided for all student participants at no cost. If you have any dietary restrictions, please note it on your registration form and we will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs.
3. Does my faculty advisor have to attend the Challenge?
No, your faculty advisor does not have to attend the Challenge, but they might like to! They will have an opportunity to experience a new type of high school competition, as well as meet faculty from other high schools. There will be a special session for faculty advisors on global health education at the high school level.
4. Are my parents allowed to attend?
Yes! Parents are definitely welcome to the Challenge. Parents will be charged a nominal fee to cover their meals during the Challenge.
5. Where will the Challenge take place?
It will take place at the SOCH at Hilles, on Harvard campus. Click here for directions.
6. Will I be working individually or as part of a team?
You will be working as a part of a team, which will be assembled at the beginning of the Challenge.
7. How will I be judged?
You will be judged based on your ability to devise a feasible solution that takes into account the social and economic aspects of Pakistan. More detailed proposal guidelines will be released in the weeks leading up to the Challenge.
8. Who will judge the proposals?
You will have the opportunity to have your research proposals critiqued by Harvard students and faculty.
9. Will I be able to learn more about Harvard College?
Yes! We'll be holding an unofficial panel discussion, designed to answer your questions on admissions and college life.
10. When is the Challenge?
Saturday, April 5th, 2014, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
11. When is the deadline to register?
Sunday, March 16th, 11:59 p.m.
